Treälvsskolan is a primary and lower secondary school (grades F-9) with approximately 330 students, including an associated after-school center and youth club. We are close to nature and outdoor recreation areas. Treälvsskolan also features a sports hall, swimming pool, multi-purpose arena, and ice rink. We are looking for an engaged and confident student assistant who wants to help create the best conditions for our students. This is a one-year fixed-term position starting from the autumn term of 2026.

Common duties

As a student assistant, you will work together with educators to provide support to one or more students during the school day and in various social situations encountered at school. You will work preventively and set boundaries in accordance with the school's rules and routines. Most of your working day will be spent with the students, in hallways and classrooms.

The role of student assistant includes, for example:

  • Supporting the student in planning and carrying out the school day, including schedule adjustments.
  • Providing support in individual work and knowledge acquisition.
  • Being a support for the student during breaks and transitions throughout the day.
  • Supporting the student in lessons, both practically and pedagogically.
  • Helping the student use digital tools and systems, such as Google Classroom, text-to-speech services, and Legimus.
  • Contributing to creating structure, safety, and predictability in the student's daily life.
  • Supporting the student's development of social and communicative skills.
  • Collaborating closely with teachers, the student health team, and external actors if needed.
  • Maintaining close and good dialogue with guardians.
  • Participating in work regarding safety and study environment, including handling bullying cases according to school routines.

The work may involve both individual support and group work.

Your qualifications

We are looking for you with some form of education in child and youth care, or alternatively, work experience regarding work with young people and knowledge of NPF (Neurodevelopmental Conditions) and low-affective handling. You may be educated as a social pedagogue, social worker, behavioral scientist, after-school educator, youth leader, or have other equivalent education. It is important that you can work independently and take initiative when you see what needs to be done. Personal suitability is crucial. To succeed in the assignment, it is meritorious if you are already familiar with the school's operations.

Meritorious is experience of work in schools, LSS (Act for Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments), or similar operations.

We are looking for you who

  • Have a genuine interest in the development of children and young people.
  • Are calm, stable, and have a good ability to create trusting relationships.
  • Have good collaboration skills and can work closely with educators.
  • Are flexible and solution-focused in everyday situations.
  • Can set clear boundaries and create structure.

Other tasks may be added to this work, such as assisting the special needs teacher in developing measures for special support based on the student's needs, participating in development conferences, or other student health meetings. The school is a dynamic operation which places high demands on flexibility and innovation. The position implies that you as an applicant must be able to adapt and be prepared for the assignment to be evaluated and potentially changed in line with the needs of the operation and students.
